When are nominations taken?

The nominations period is from 19 August to 20 October 2019.

Can I nominate after the closing deadline?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept nominations after the closing date.

How does the nomination process work?

Surrey sports councils, boroughs and districts each have a variety of awards open for the public to vote on between August and October. Nominations will then be shortlisted and nominees are invited to attend their local ceremony held during October to December.

Can I send my form in by post?

Active Surrey host this website for you to submit nominations easily online and paper nominations will not be available. If you don't have access to the website please contact your local sports council for local award nomations, and Active Surrey for county award nominations to process your nomination over the phone. If you are unsure of the contact details, please email or telephone 01483 518944.

I am experiencing problems submitting a nomination, what should I do?

On rare occassions you may experience problems with submitting an online nomination. If this happens, please check the following:

  • your browser is the latest version
  • your computer is cleared of cookies
  • you have completed all form fields
  • the security code is typed in correctly all with lower case letters

If you have checked the above and still cannot submit your nomination, please copy and paste it into an email to and we will enter it for you.

How many nominations can I submit?

You can submit as many nominations as you require.

What is nomination criteria?

The judging panel scores all nominations against individual award criteria, so all information is checked and scoring is fair. Therefore, if you write your nomination in reference to the criteria, it will score well. Try to write the nomination with as much detail as possible. The judges do not know your nominee like you do, so you need to give lots of information, examples of achievement, and explain details of achievements.

How do I know if my nomination has been submitted successfully?

After you click submit, a thank you message will appear on your screen, this is your confirmation that your nomination has been submitted and sent to us. If this does not appear, or yellow triangles appear against entry fields on the form, please check you have completed all the required mandatory fields correctly and re-submit.

How will I know if I have been shortlisted?

Your local authority or sports council will contact nominees who have been selected.

Can I nominate someone for more than one award?

Yes, as long as they meet the criteria for each one.

Can I save my online form and complete it at a later date?

Unfortunately not.

Are these awards just for individual, teams and clubs in Surrey?

Yes, this is a Surrey-only awards however, if you live outside of Surrey but play sport in Surrey you could still apply and vice versa.
